Who We Are
About the Owner - Michael Knapik
Before owning MJK Construction LLC, Michael worked in the commercial construction and excavation industry for over 14 years. Before joining the field, Michael majored in Civil Engineering and Construction Management in Upstate New York while also earning his Class A Commercial Drivers License before relocating permanently to sunny Central Florida where he entered the field.
Michael’s drive and determination to work all areas of a construction career, backed by hard-earned respect, work ethic and professionalism, only further opened his opportunities.
While working for large commercial companies and Central Florida municipalities, he quickly climbed the ladder from Heavy Equipment Operator and Lowboy Driver to Foreman, and eventually Superintendent. While overseeing large projects for local Central Florida theme parks, airports, government municipalities, road and railway systems, Michael’s unique experience in the field and office closed gaps commonly seen on projects between personnel, subcontractors, planning, safety and most importantly budget.
Michael also serves as Vice Chair on the Town of Oakland’s Planning and Zoning Board, reviewing plans, proposals and projects for a quaint area with a lot of interest for development. His passion for the area is to keep the ‘small town charm’ while balancing the desired development. As Vice Chair, he also makes contractual recommendations to the Town Board on regulations and requirements for any future approved projects. The preservation of history, landmarks, nature and wildlife are Michael’s upmost focus – the balance of the two is possible.
Licensed by the State of Florida as a Certified Underground Utilities Contractor, Michael’s reputation, combined with his knowledge and passion for ‘green development’ are the foundation of MJK Construction LLC.
